Google Cloud has shared a recap of the highlights from the week of August 9th, including new open foundation models for AI, enhancements to BigQuery, and the launch of the GKE Extended channel for supporting older Kubernetes versions.
One thing that particularly caught my eye was the rollout of model-as-a-service in Vertex AI for Mistral and Meta's latest AI models. This pay-per-token approach removes the need for dedicated infrastructure, making it easier for developers to experiment with and utilize these cutting-edge models.
I'm also impressed by the introduction of continuous queries in BigQuery, enabling real-time processing of incoming data streams. This feature will be instrumental in enhancing data analysis efficiency and identifying patterns and anomalies in real time.
Lastly, I believe the GKE Extended channel will be beneficial for organizations that need more time to upgrade to the latest Kubernetes versions. Providing security support and updates for older versions for up to 24 months offers much-needed flexibility in planning upgrades.
Overall, these updates contribute to making Google Cloud a more compelling platform for developers and businesses looking to leverage cloud and AI technologies.
