AWS launched an impressive number of new features and services last week, signaling the approach of AWS re:Invent 2024. The AWS News Blog team is finalizing re:Invent blog posts to showcase exciting new launches.

Most notably, AWS is expanding its strategic collaboration with Anthropic as its primary training partner for AWS Trainium chips. This builds upon AWS being Anthropic's primary cloud provider for deploying Claude models in Amazon Bedrock. These collaborations will continue to push the boundaries of what customers can achieve with generative AI.

Last week's launches included notable updates to Amazon Aurora, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon CloudFront, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Cognito, Amazon Connect, Amazon EC2, AWS End User Messaging, AWS Lambda, Amazon OpenSearch Service, Amazon Q Business, Amazon Q Developer, Amazon QuickSight, Amazon Redshift, AWS System Manager, Amazon S3, and Amazon VPC.

For example, Amazon Aurora Serverless v2 now supports scaling to 0 Aurora Capacity Units (ACUs), saving costs during database inactivity. Amazon Bedrock now supports binary vector embeddings for building Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.

See AWS What's New for details on all the launches.

Whether attending in person or virtually, AWS re:Invent is a great opportunity to learn about the latest cloud computing innovations. Keynotes and Innovation Talks will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person, and select breakout sessions will be available on-demand after the event.
