AlloyDB Omni has released version 15.7.0, bringing significant enhancements to PostgreSQL workflows, including faster performance, an ultra-fast disk cache, an enhanced columnar engine, general availability of ScANN vector indexing, and a new release of the AlloyDB Omni Kubernetes operator. These updates boost transactional and analytical workloads, as well as cutting-edge vector search, in your data center, at the edge, on your laptop, and in any cloud, with 100% PostgreSQL compatibility. Key improvements include an ultra-fast disk cache, allowing you to configure a fast, local, non-durable storage device as an extension of Postgres’ buffer cache. Instead of aging data out of memory, AlloyDB Omni can keep a copy in the disk cache for faster access than persistent disk. The enhanced columnar engine lets developers gain real-time analytical insights from transactional data without managing extra data pipelines or separate databases. For vector database use cases, AlloyDB Omni offers great performance with pgvector using ivf or hnsw indexes. AlloyDB AI's ScANN index provides up to 4x faster vector queries than standard PostgreSQL's HNSW index, along with benefits in indexing speed and memory utilization. It's now generally available as of AlloyDB Omni version 15.7.0.
