AWS has announced AWS Transfer Family web apps, a new resource for creating simple interfaces for authorized users to access data in Amazon S3 via a customizable web browser. This no-code web app allows authenticated users to list, upload, download, copy, and delete files in designated S3 buckets. Non-developer, line-of-business users inside and outside your organization can easily exchange file data without needing desktop clients, scripts, or complex instructions. Administrators have full control over authentication, access, and permissions, and can customize the web app with a page title and favicon. Each web app supports uploads and downloads of files up to 160 GiB, using multipart uploads for large files. Files are transferred over TLS-protected HTTPS connections, with automatic retries and CRC32 end-to-end integrity checks. Key features of Transfer Family web apps include robust security using AWS IAM Identity Center, allowing integration with existing SAML or OIDC identity providers or the built-in Identity Store. S3 Access Grants provide granular control over user and group permissions. Customization options include page titles, favicons, and the ability to use a CloudFront distribution with a custom domain name and HTTPS. The web apps are hosted on AWS, leveraging the scalability and high availability of S3, with eleven nines of durability. Integration with S3 features like versioning, server access logging, and event notifications is also supported, along with the ability to use EventBridge for post-upload workflows.
