AWS announced a staggering 197 new service launches, including expanding its strategic collaboration with Anthropic as its primary training partner for developing its AWS Trainium chips. AWS will continue pushing the boundaries of what customers can achieve with generative AI technologies through these kinds of collaborations. Key new releases include Amazon Aurora Serverless v2 now supporting scaling to 0 Aurora Capacity Units (ACUs), allowing cost savings during periods of database inactivity. Amazon Bedrock now supports binary vector embeddings for building Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications. Additionally, Amazon CloudFront now offers support for gRPC applications, enabling bidirectional communication between a client and a server over HTTP/2 connections. Amazon EC2 now provides the ability to shift the launch of EC2 instances in an Auto Scaling Group (ASG) away from an impaired Availability Zone (AZ) to quickly recover your unhealthy application in another AZ using Amazon Application Recovery Controller (ARC) zonal shift and zonal autoshift. Finally, you can now leverage AWS Lambda SnapStart for Python and .NET to deliver sub-second startup performance. For more details, check out AWS What's New.
