Google Cloud has launched two new AI-powered features for Looker, LookML Assistant and Visualization Assistant, to preview. These features aim to simplify how analysts and developers interact with modeling and visualization features, making it easier for them to structure and share their data.

LookML Assistant helps users write LookML faster by providing suggestions and guidance to easily create dimensions, dimension groups, and measures. Users can get started with LookML Assistant by enabling development mode, navigating to a project in their IDE, and clicking on the Gemini icon.

Visualization Assistant, on the other hand, allows users to customize data visualizations using natural language. Instead of searching through documentation to find the right JSON parameters, users can simply tell Gemini in Looker what they need, and it will write the customization code for them. Users can get started with Visualization Assistant by creating a visualization in Looker Explore and choosing an out-of-the-box chart type such as column, bar, or line.

These two new features are designed to accelerate everyday data interactions and empower users to chat with their data to bring it to life.
