At Google Cloud Next 2024, Google Cloud announced new database innovations focused on generative AI. These innovations aim to empower developers to build intelligent apps with operational data, simplify database management with Gemini models, and modernize databases to leverage generative AI.

A key highlight is the launch of Firebase Data Connect, a new relational database solution integrated with a fully managed PostgreSQL database powered by Cloud SQL. This will enable developers to build apps rapidly with rich queries, complex conditions, and semantic vector search for secure generative AI flows.

Additionally, Google Cloud announced a strategic partnership with Aiven to help organizations deploy and manage AlloyDB Omni across any cloud. Aiven for AlloyDB Omni is a managed cloud database service that provides a simplified and secure way to deploy, manage, and scale AlloyDB Omni on Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure.

Furthermore, Memorystore for Valkey 8.0 is now available in public preview. Valkey 8.0 includes major performance and reliability improvements, a new replication scheme, networking enhancements, and detailed visibility into performance and resource usage.

These innovations aim to empower organizations to embrace generative AI by providing the necessary infrastructure and database management tools to build and deploy intelligent and scalable applications.
