Elia Group, in collaboration with Google Cloud, has developed eCO₂grid, a platform utilizing Vertex AI to forecast the CO₂ intensity of the electricity grid. This platform empowers businesses and consumers to make informed decisions about their energy consumption, contributing to reduced carbon emissions. I was particularly impressed by the platform's ability to integrate existing forecasting models with data in Elia's systems, enabling the control and management of multiple models simultaneously. This development represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future, where businesses can integrate eCO₂grid's forecast data into their own systems via an API, enhancing their understanding of their CO₂ footprint and facilitating emission reductions.
