Microsoft Azure has announced significant enhancements to the backup and disaster recovery experience for Premium SSD v2 and Ultra disks, the next generation of Azure disk storage. These enhancements focus on providing easy and seamless protection for your workloads.
One of the key updates is the general availability of incremental snapshots for Pv2 and Ultra disks. These incremental snapshots store only the changes made since the last snapshot, making them cost-effective and time-efficient backups. These snapshots can be used for various purposes, including creating restore points, recovering data in case of accidental data loss, and facilitating regional disaster recovery.
Furthermore, Microsoft Azure has enhanced its integrations with third-party backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Veeam, Rubrik, OpenText, and Veritas. This added support provides customers with more options to protect their workloads running on Pv2 and Ultra disks.
In addition to the backup and recovery enhancements, Microsoft Azure has also introduced new security features for Pv2 and Ultra disks. These include encryption at host, which provides an extra layer of security by encrypting data on the VM host itself, and Trusted Launch VM, which enhances the security of Azure Generation 2 VMs by providing a secure compute foundation.
These enhancements underscore Microsoft Azure's commitment to providing robust, secure, and scalable storage solutions. By providing incremental snapshots, third-party backup and recovery support, and enhanced security features, Microsoft Azure enables customers to manage their data protection and recovery with confidence.
